Five hospitalized, including three children and police officer, in Newark-area car crash

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. (WPHL) — Five people are in the hospital, including three children and a police officer, after a car crash near Newark, Delaware.

According to New Castle County police, this happened as the officer was driving eastbound on Christiana Road near Thomas Garrett Drive when a car crossed the grass strip and hit the officer’s car.

Officials say there were three children and one adult in the other vehicle. They were all taken to the hospital in critical condition. The police officer is in stable condition.

The New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit responded to the scene and is investigating.
