Officers say they arrested two drivers involved in illegal street racing on Saturday at around 10:40 p.m. and impounded their vehicles after receiving a call of 50 vehicles setting up for a sideshow/race near Betty Drive, east of Highway 99, near Goshen.
As law enforcement responded, CHP says several vehicles left the scene traveling northbound on Highway 99. Spectators, according to investigators, were slowing down traffic on the freeway to allow two Chevrolet Camaros to speed off in a race.
CHP says they stopped one of the racers on the freeway as the other continued north on the freeway. With assistance from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office air operations, they apprehended the other racer minutes after fleeing.
