Fatal shooting and suicide follow domestic dispute in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) — Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide following a domestic disturbance call early Sunday morning in Alexandria.

On March 30, 2025, at approximately 4:35 a.m., officers with the Alexandria Police Department responded to a report of gunfire at a residence in the 5900 block of Ron Mar Drive.

Upon arrival, officers entered the home and discovered 38-year-old Shaterrica Smith deceased from a gunshot wound. Also found dead was 42-year-old Tracy Johnson, who appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident remains under investigation.
