According to court documents, witnesses said Alfred Maurice Drummer, 20, struck multiple women after forcing his way into a home on Gharkey Street early Sunday. One of the women recalled being hit in the back of the head so hard she fell to her knees.
Multiple witnesses said Drummer pulled out a pistol and cracked another man over the head with the weapon. Drummer also is accused of pointing the gun at several different people.
According to court documents, one of the witnesses even supplied a video to police that showed Drummer pointing a gun at a woman.
Drummer was caught by police not far from the scene of the altercation after being spotted running toward railroad tracks at the end of S. Mound Street. Police said a black 9mm handgun was located roughly 10 yards from where Drummer was apprehended.
The gun had scratch marks consistent with being dropped or thrown onto a hard surface. A loaded magazine was inserted in the gun, police said, with a round chambered.
Court documents reveal that Drummer denied the gun was his. He told police officers he was jumped and claimed he would’ve shot people in self-defense if he would have had a gun on him.
Police noted the smell of alcohol on Drummer’s breath.
Court records reveal Drummer was out on bond at the time of this alleged attack. In February, Drummer was charged with domestic battery committed in the presence of a minor, a Level 6 felony. He bonded out of jail roughly two weeks prior to the incident on Gharkey Street.
Back behind bars, Drummer is being held on multiple preliminary felony charges including intimidation with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and pointing a firearm.
Final charges will be decided by the Delaware County Prosecutor.
