Jay Clarke, 37, is being held in the Delaware County Jail on a preliminary count of child molestation, a Level 4 felony.
Court documents reveal that Muncie police officers first learned about the child molestation accusations in early January. The victim told police Clarke put his hands down her pants and touched her inappropriately.
According to investigators, Clarke denied touching the girl at first claiming he was only tickling her and might have “accidentally” touched her. When police ultimately arrested Clarke on Feb. 14, he was taken to an interview room where investigators allege he ended up admitting to touching the child’s privates.
No official charges have been filed against Clarke at this time. The Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office will make final charging decisions.
