A sluggish storm system is currently drenching sections of south-central Texas. This feature will take its time moving eastward towards our area, and there are still questions regarding when the highest rain coverage will arrive.
The Weather Prediction Center has already outlined sections of Texas & Louisiana within a Slight Risk(Level 2 out of 4) for excessive rainfall & flash flooding on Friday-Saturday.
This forecast is a bit challenging, as the timing is still a bit hazy, as there could be more than one round of storms.
Right now, the model consensus shows the greatest risk from 6PM Friday-6PM Saturday across the central Gulf Coast with most models showing the heaviest in southeast Louisiana overnight Friday-mid day Saturday. However, expect that time range to fluctuate and become more fine-tuned as we get closer.
And yes, we could see another round of scattered storms by Monday. Storm Prediction Center already outlining parts of the Gulf Coast region within a Slight Risk(Level 2 out of 5) for severe storms. Something to monitor after the weekend. Stay tuned!
