Local Mid-City restaurant, Toups’ Meatery is doing the same thing, but all proceeds are going to feed families in need.
“We’ve got corn meal fried catfish, hush puppies, potato salad and tartar sauce. All done with high end ingredients. This is all good stuff. This is all homemade,” Isaac Toups, owner & chef at Toups’ Meatery
Homemade from the heart, with families in mind.
“I like to feed people, and you buying the fish fry helps me provide food to the underfed children of New Orleans,” Toups said.
During the pandemic, Toups and his team gave meals to families in need, and since then have started the non-profit, “Toups Family Meal.”
“This year so far we have fed over 100,000 meals. One in three children of New Orleans are going hungry, and that’s completely unacceptable for the best food city in perhaps all of the world. All the proceeds from the fish fry go to Toups Family Meal program. It is our responsibility until everyone gets fed. If someone is hungry, I’m going to feed them,” he said.
Toups’ Meatery will host its Fish Fry Fridays every Friday through Lent up until Good Friday. The fish fry plates cost $26.
