Mississippi funeral director arrested after 3 bodies found in storage unit

GREENVILLE, Miss. (WJTV) – Washington County deputies announced a man was arrested after three bodies were found in a storage unit.

Delta News reported the incident occurred in the 2000 block of Reed Road near Beauchamp on Tuesday, March 25.

Chief Deputy Billy Barber said the investigation led to the arrest of Al Creath, 31, of Greenville. He said Creath was the owner and funeral director of Creath Memorial in Greenville. Creath faces two counts of improper desecration of a corpse.

According to Barber, deputies responded to the storage unit because there were reports of burglaries. He expects Creath to face additional charges.

Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons released a statement about the discovery of the remains.

The discovery of human remains in a storage unit in our city is deeply disturbing and raises serious concerns that demand a thorough investigation. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who may be affected by this tragic situation.

I have full confidence in the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, other local and state law enforcement and investigative agencies, who are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding this case. We will ensure that all necessary resources are made available to support their efforts in uncovering the truth and bringing justice to those involved.

Greenville is a community that values dignity, respect, and the rule of law. We will not tolerate any actions that violate those principles. I understand an arrest has been made but I also urge others with information to come forward and assist authorities in their investigation.

As more details emerge, we will continue to keep the public informed. In the meantime, I ask for patience and cooperation as we allow investigators to do their work. My administration remains committed to transparency, public safety, and ensuring that justice is served.
Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons
