According to a press release from the Indiana Department of Transportation, motorists should expect rolling slowdowns and stoppages on I-65 between State Roads 39 and 47. Starting April 1, work will be completed daily between midnight and 5 a.m.
Per INDOT, crews will slow or stop traffic in both directions on I-65 every 20 minutes. The slowdowns and closures will allow crews to relocate utilities.
The utilities need to be relocated for a diverging diamond interchange project.
INDOT has not indicated exactly how long the overnight slowdowns and closures are expected to last. In its release, the agency said the utility work “is expected to last a couple of weeks but is weather-dependent and subject to change.”
Officials are encouraging motorists who may end up travelling through the work zone to use caution and follow guidance provided by law enforcement.
