Rockford police arrest three suspects linked to August 2024 parking lot murder

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police have made three arrests in connection to a murder that took place at a “large gathering” in an E. State Street business parking lot in August 2024. A fourth suspect is still at large.

Chase Huggins, 27, was shot multiple times after a fight ensued at an after-hours event in the 6600 block of E. State Street. Police said a shootout ensued prior to 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th, and Huggins was killed.

Detectives from Rockford Police’s Gang Unit identified four suspects in the crime.

Enrique Dozal, 21, Aarionte Mahone, 27, and Jason Bryant, 29, are in custody and charged with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery.

A fourth suspect, a 15-year-old teen, faces the same charges but is not currently in custody, police said.
