Citizens have taken to social media this week to report the restaurant, located in Abilene’s T&P Building on N 1st Street, was closing down.
A KTAB and KRBC crew member had reservations to dine at The Local Saturday afternoon but received a phone call earlier in the day from an employee saying they were “closing”, and when the KTAB and KRBC crew member asked if this was temporary, the crew member responded that they were, “closing for good”.
The Local also appears to have removed their social media pages. Links to the restaurant’s pages were still on google, but when followed, the link to their Facebook Page states “this content isn’t available right now” and the link to their Instagram page states, “sorry this page isn’t available.”
Google also claims that The Local is “temporarily closed”.
There were no signs indicating closure on The Local’s building when KTAB and KRBC went by Tuesday afternoon.
KTAB and KRBC have also been unable to reach the owners, managers, or any officials with The Local for comment on their possible closure. Multiple phone calls to the location went unanswered, as well as phone calls to numbers believed to be associated with the owners.
