Chicago police say the shooting happened just before 7 p.m. at a home in the 500 block of West 65th Place, in the Englewood neighborhood. The 13-year-old boy was inside the home when a gun discharged, hitting him in the chest.
The teen was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to investigators. Detectives are questioning a person of interest regarding the shooting, police say, but no charges have yet been filed.
