SCOTT, La. (
KLFY) — 68-year-old Glenn Tujague is asking for the public’s help after losing his home in a fire in January.
This comes after the Scott Fire Department said the fire happened January 24 in the 100 block of Albarado Road around 9:30 a.m.
When officials arrived, they observed a camper engulfed in flames in close proximity to a manufactured home. Firefighters were able to get the flames under control, but the camper fire was a total loss.
An investigation into the fire determined it was an accident, as it was caused by an overloaded electrical unit, officials said. No injuries were reported.
Tujague said he is still trying to figure out his next steps after losing his camper almost two months ago.
“This thing has been my healing rest place and now it’s gone, and I’m not a young man,” said Tujague.
Tujague said he is now living out of his car, and he plans to sell his vehicle and motorcycle to help pay for his necessities.
“I went to live with my daughter a little while and I appreciate her help and everything, but it’s hard to live with children, so I’m back over here trying to sell my car and my motorcycle to get back on my feet,” said Tujague.
Tujague said any donations would be appreciated.
“I just want to make it on my own, not depend on anybody, and I’m just trying to do right, I need help,” said Tujague.
