BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill issued a statement on Boosie Bash using Caleb Wilson’s name and image in promotional materials and announced her intent to take legal action over the unauthorized use of his name and image in promoting a “for-profit event”.
In her statement, Murril said Wilson’s parents did not give consent and “know nothing about their son’s name and image being used to promote this event.”
While promoting the music event, rapper Torence “Boosie” Hatch Jr. said Boosie Bash had partnered with the Southern University Human Jukebox and would offer a scholarship named after Wilson.
Boosie mentioned in an interview with Louisiana First News that Wilson’s father wanted Boosie Bash to continue. According to Murrill, his parents didn’t know the event was happening.
“They have requested that his name, image, and any reference to a scholarship for him be removed from all promotional materials,” Murrill said.
“I intend to take legal action due to their misappropriation of his name and image to promote their for-profit event. This is not a charitable event,” Murrill said.
Louisiana First News has reached out to Boosie’s team and the band director for a statement.
