IMPD: Person shot, critical on Indy’s near northwest side; person of interest in custody

INDIANAPOLIS — A person is in critical condition after being shot on the near northwest side of Indianapolis Friday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 5:47 p.m. to the 2900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in response to reports that a shooting occurred in the area.

IMPD said officers arrived and located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. They were last reported to be in critical condition. A person of interest has been detained by offices on the scene, according to IMPD.

No other information was immediately available.
