Pedestrian critically injured after being struck on North Market

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Police Department responded to the 1900 block of North Market at approximately 6:38 a.m. where a major crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle occurred.

Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious and unresponsive male pedestrian lying in the roadway. A Chevrolet Traverse was also at the scene.

Police say preliminary information indicates the driver of the Traverse was traveling southbound on North Market in the outside lane when she struck the pedestrian, who was attempting to cross the highway from the west side to the east side.

The pedestrian was transported to Oschner LSU Health by the Shreveport Fire Department with life-threatening injuries. Hospital staff states that he is in critical condition.

An investigation by the SPD’s Crash Investigation Unit is ongoing, and no citations have been issued at this time. The SPD asks that anyone with information about this crash should contact them at 318-673-7300.
