Local food vendors and businesses are looking forward to capitalizing from the large crowd. Visit Jackson expects the economic impact to exceed $2 million.
“We are excited about it again. It’s a great opportunity again to really impact our economy in Jackson, to really celebrate the unique creativity of the city, its citizens. So, were looking forward to it,” said Rickey Thigpen, president of Visit Jackson.
With a large crowd in Jackson, law enforcement agencies are collaborating to keep paradegoers safe.
“My goal is for the event to be safe. Nobody’s hurt, harmed or lose their life in downtown Jackson,” said Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade.
Capitol police will also be posted along the parade route.
Visit Jackson officials encouraged paradegoers to arrive early to avoid traffic.
