BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A trial has been delayed again for a Baton Rouge man accused of murdering local civil rights activist Sadie Roberts-Joseph in 2019.
body, founder of the Baton Rouge African American Museum, was found in the trunk of a car in the 2300 block of North 20th Street near Scenic Highway on July 12, 2019. She was 75 years old.
Court records show the trial for Ronn Bell, 44, is set to start June 2. The court ordered a previously set March trial date to be moved after his defense team filed a motion to allow time to investigate new evidence information.
A grand jury charged Bell with second-degree murder and failure to register as a sex offender in November 2019.
Days later, Bell was arrested in connection to her death and booked into jail on a first-degree murder charge.
Detectives said Bell was a tenant of Roberts-Joseph and owed her $1,200 in rent.
