Fire in Norfork contained after firefighters battle blaze for nearly 4 hours

Fire crews in Baxter County have been battling a blaze in the Norfork area. As of 5 Wednesday evening, the fire on Sheid Road, also known as Arkansas Highway 177, has been contained.

Norfork Mayor Lisa Harrison says multiple crews have been working to contain the blaze all afternoon.

The fire started at 67 Sheid, right near Arkansas Highway 5, north of the Norfork School District campus. Mayor Harrison says the school district and its children were never in danger as the fire jumped Highway 5 and went further north.

Mayor Harrison says she is grateful to everyone who responded to the blaze.
