Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called around 3:45 p.m. to the 7400 block of Oak Knoll Drive in response to a personal injury accident involving a motorcycle.
IMPD said officers arrived and determined that the incident involved a single motorcycle. Police found an adult female who was in an “unconscious state” and suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
Preliminary information indicates the woman was a passenger when she fell off the motorcycle while it was still moving, according to IMPD. Detectives do not believe alcohol played a role in this incident.
IMPD added that the individual operating the motorcycle would submit a chemical test, which is the standard procedure for any crash involving serious bodily injuries. The driver did not sustain any injuries.
A certified accident investigator will be assisting officers on scene. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
