KAPLAN, La. (KLFY) — Two people were arrested in Vermilion Parish after police allegedly found firearms and over 1,000 grams of narcotics in a residence.

Officials arrested Chaquam Williams and Mary Antonie on March 10, after searching a residence in the 1100 block of 11th Street in Kaplan for suspected narcotics.

According to officials, when they entered the residence, they found Williams hiding under a bed inside. Upon detaining Mr. Williams, several dozen grams of suspected marijuana were allegedly
found on his person.

While they secured the residence to continue the search, officials said Antonie arrived on scene and claimed ownership of the residence.

During the search of the residence the following suspected narcotics and weights were located:

• Approximately 1,034 grams of suspected marijuana
• A loaded black 9mm Glock handgun, with a full-auto “switch” installed
• Approximately 204 grams of suspected methamphetamine
• Several pills identified as hydrocodone and Alprozolam
• Approximately $5,000 in U.S. currency
• Various narcotics paraphernalia items

Williams was sent to a Vermilion Parish jail and charged with the following:

• possession of schedule II (Hydrocodone)
• possession with intent to distribute schedule I (marijuana)
• possession of drug paraphernalia
• Possession of controlled dangerous substances in a drug free zone
• Obstruction of justice
• Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
• Possession of firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
• Possession or dealing in unregistered or illegally transferred weapons

Antoine was placed into custody sent to a Vermilion Parish jail on the following charges:

• Possession of schedule IV (Alprazolam)
• Possession with intent to distribute schedule I (marijuana)
• Possession with intent to distribute schedule II (methamphetamine)
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Transactions involving drug proceeds
• Possession of controlled dangerous substances in a drug free zone
