SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) —Shreveport’s local paper mill, Pratt Industries, was reportedly on fire at 4:25 p.m.

On March 15, KTAL/KMSS morning anchor Fernanda Hernandez, married to a manager of Pratt Industries, said, All of the employees are rushing to do an emergency shut-off of any systems that could make the fire bigger.

Fernanda said that before the fire department arrived, the employees at Pratt Industries took the initiative by going up to the water towers with hoses to try to put out the fire. Once the Shreveport Fire Department arrived, they took over.

Caddo 911 recorded a fire, and more than 23 Shreveport Fire Department units were at the scene.

At approximately 6:24 p.m., our News Director/photographer said the fire appeared contained in the recycled paper area. SWEPCO is also on the scene.

The cause of the fire is to be determined.
