Teen pleads guilty in 2023 Owensboro murder case

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A suspect charged with the 2023 murder of 16-year-old Gay Mee Paw in Owensboro pleaded guilty on Friday.

Jeremiah Byrd, 18, pleaded guilty to the charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a minor.

A plea deal filed in the Daviess County Circuit Court recommends a sentence of 25 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for May 23.

Authorities say Paw was found with a gunshot wound to the head near Ben Hawes Park in Owensboro on June 21, 2023. Paw was a student at Owensboro Public Schools.
