New Red Cross benefits available for victims of Hurricane Francine

ST. MARY PARISH, La. (KLFY) — Those who are still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Francine last fall have a new resource to help rebuild.

The American Red Cross is offering another round of assistance for those who have experienced significant damage from Hurricane Francine and are still in the process of recovery. If you haven’t yet reported your damages, now is the time to do so, officials said.

You may be eligible for assistance if your primary residence suffered major damage or was destroyed AND you are continuing to experience roadblocks to your recovery.

The majority of households will receive an invitation to apply for assistance through an email, text message or phone call directly from the Red Cross. People who fall into this category include those whose homes have been verified by the Red Cross or another vetted coordinating agency to have sustained major damage or have been destroyed. In addition, the Red Cross must have contact information for these households in order to contact them.

For more information, go to Red Cross locations in Houma, New Orleans or Baton Rouge, or the Hurricane Francine page on the Red Cross website.

Hurricane Francine trampled over lower Louisiana in September, resulting in flooding, fallen trees and more than 400,000 homes without power.
