5 students hurt in Friday morning Lafayette Parish school bus crash

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (KLFY) — Five students were injured when their school bus crashed in Lafayette Parish, authorities said.

A Lafayette Parish School System spokesperson said the five were taken by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The remaining 15 students on the bus were taken to Ridge Elementary School, and will be checked out by nurses there, officials said.

Authorities said the bus was stopped at a bus stop near the corner of Duhon Road and Lagneaux Road with its signs out when a car hit another car, sending it into the bus.

All of the students’ parents have been notified, officials said.

No other details were released. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
