Jose Cardona, who received a 5-year probation sentence after pleading guilty to Impersonation of a Peace Officer in 2023, is now wanted on a Motion to Provoke Probation warrant that was issued in February.
Court documents detail the initial allegations against Cardona, saying he was contacted in April 2023 after a victim reported he was walking north on Sycamore Street near South 17th Street when a suspect, later identified as Cardona, pulled up behind him in a Chevy Impala while flashing red and blue lights and identifying himself as police. The victim then fled the scene.
When Cardona was questioned, the documents state he came up with mulitple stories before saying he was trying to collect his belongings.
However, the documents reveal that when Cardona activated his lights at the officers’ request, red and blue lights began flashing from his windshield.
The documents also state he told the officers he was just, “trying to help us out.”
Cardona was one of the ‘Most Wanted’ fugitives in Abilene the week of March 12 for his probation violation warrant.
Anyone who knows where Cardona may be located is eligible to receive a $500 cash reward.
