Authorities responded to an “apparent unprovoked attack” on the Vance Park futsal court just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, and found Jorge Ovidio Mateo Vasquez, 17, had been shot and killed, police said.
Officers identified Camerino Vides, 16, as a suspect but have not been able to find him.
“I understand that incidents like this can cause fear and uncertainty,” Gresham Police Chief Travis Gullberg said. “In response to the challenge of gun violence, we recently launched Ceasefire Gresham, a partnership using a collaborative approach to address this crisis.”
Anyone with information about Vides is encouraged to contact Gresham police. However, police say not to approach Vides in case he is armed.
