Khira Marionneaux, 41, was booked into jail on March 11 and charged with negligent homicide, maximum speed law and reckless operation of a vehicle.
An affidavit states that East Baton Rouge Parish deputies were called to an area near O’Neal Lane and Centurion Avenue about a major crash on April 26, 2024. Before the deputies arrived, emergency medical services reportedly took two female drivers to a local hospital. Deputies were notified shortly after that an elderly woman died of her injuries at the hospital.
During the investigation, detectives learned Marionneaux was headed north on O’Neal Lane in a 2021 Hyundai at high speeds when her vehicle struck another vehicle in the roadway. A search warrant of the Hyundai’s airbag control module showed Marionneaux was traveling at 92 mph in a posted 45 mph zone at least five seconds before the crash. Upon braking, Marionneaux’s vehicle still struck the victim’s vehicle at 70 mph.
Jail records show a bond amount of $25,000 was set.
