Second suspect arrested in connection to hazing death of Caleb Wilson

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A second suspect in the alleged fraternity hazing death was arrested, police confirmed.

Kyle Thurman was arrested by the U.S. Marshals for the warrant for hazing as a fugitive in West Baton Rouge. He is currently being held in the West Baton Rouge Parish jail.

Thurman joins Caleb McCray, who turned himself in on March 6 and was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of criminal hazing and manslaughter. McCray posted a $100K bond shortly after.

Both McCray and Thurman are accused of being connected to the hazing death of 20-year-old student Caleb Wilson.

He was brought to the hospital around 3 a.m., unresponsive after an unsanctioned off-campus hazing ritual at a warehouse. Wilson was in the process of pleding into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Southern University has paused all membership intake for group organizations, including all fraternities, sororities, and student clubs. The university is also conducting an internal investigation and judiciary process.
