$1.5 million bond set for teen in Mooresville school shooting plot

MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — A bond has been set at $1.5 million for a Mooresville high school student accused of planning to carry out a school shooting on Valentine’s Day.

An anonymous tip out of Wisconsin led to the arrest of 18-year-old Trinity Shockley, who was arrested in February and booked into the Morgan County Jail on the following charges:

  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, a Level 1 Felony
  • One count of Intimidation: Threat to Commit Terrorism, a Level 5 Felony
  • One count of conspiracy to commit Intimidation: Threat to Commit Terrorism, a Level 5 Felony

Online court records show that a judge set Shockley’s bond at $1 million surety, plus $500,000 in cash.

According to previous reports, Morgan County Judge Dakota Van Leeuwen labeled Shockley a “significant threat to the safety of herself and the public,” when explaining why the teen was being held on no bond at the time while she underwent two psychological evaluations.

The Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office had originally requested that Shockley be held on a $500,000 surety, in addition to a $250,000 cash bond.

According to online court records, Shockley is set to appear in Morgan County Superior Court 1 for a jury trial on June 10.
