CHICAGO — The husband of a woman found dead in a South Loop high-rise last year will appear in court Monday.

46-year-old Adam Beckerink was arrested last week at his condo in Chicago on a warrant out of Berrien County, Michigan. It relates to domestic abuse and assaulting police officers charges.

On Monday, he will be in court for extradition to Michigan. However, he has not been criminally charged in his wife’s death, Caitlin Tracey.

These charges stem from incidents at Tracey’s home in New Buffalo, Michigan on January 13, 2024 and Aug.19.

The warrant was issued after he failed to show up for his pre-trial hearing in October. He also didn’t go to his trial on Oct. 29.

Tracey was found dead on Oct. 27, 2024. Her body was discovered at the bottom of a stairwell in her husband’s building on the 1200 block of South Prairie Avenue in the South Loop. Her foot had also been severed.

It’s believed she fell 20 stories, but the Cook County Medical Examiner has not determined her cause of death.

After Tracey died, a custody battle occurred between her parents and Beckerink on who should have possession of her remains.

The judge ruled in her family’s favor.

Tracey and Beckerink were married six months.

In November 2023, Tracey obtained an order of protection against Beckerink in Cook County after several domestic violence reports to Chicago police.

Her parents claim she dropped the order of protection a month later because he threatened to sue her for defamation.

As of right now, no comment from Tracey’s family.

Beckerink is set to have a pre-trial hearing in April in Michigan on six felony counts and two misdemeanors.
