9-year-old girl killed after being hit by car in Mississippi

ATTALA COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A 9-year-old girl died after she was hit by a vehicle in Attala County, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Highway 43 around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, March 7.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), a 2010 Nissan Maxima was traveling south on the highway when it collided with Ann Richardson, 9, of Batesville, as she was crossing Highway 43.

Richardson was transported to a Jackson hospital due to her injuries from the crash. She died on Saturday, March 8.

The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
