The game was close, back and forth for the entire first half. The Lady Raiders went into halftime with a 26-22 lead over the Lady Panthers.
Coming out of half it was a bit of a different ball game. Woodlawn BR put up a 10-0 run towards the end of the third quarter and beginning of fourth quarter, even regaining the lead with 7:21 left in the game.
But that only motivated the Lady Raiders.
Huntington answered the lead change but going on a 14-0 run themselves, pushing past the Lady Panthers and securing the victory.
“They’re experienced, they’ve played in a lot of big games, this is just another big time game for us this year,” head coach Brian Shyne said. “These girls are just really, really, really, experienced and they’re ready to take on any challenge.”
Carley Hamilton led the team in scoring with 27 points, followed by Kaylie Dupree with 11 points, and Kyndal Graham with 10 points.
“To know we went through so much, so much adversity, losing in semis last year and playing all year with a chip on our shoulder while we were going through adversity,” Hamilton said. “We knew we were gonna get it done and we did.”
The Lady Raiders finish the season with a shiny state championship title and a record of 20-10.
