According to Chicago police, the victim was located after officers and fire crews responded to the scene of a fire at a residence in the 2300 block of South Kirkland Avenue in North Lawndale around 8 p.m.
Officers said after crews had extinguished the blaze, they located a 68-year-old man inside the home. He was later pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities said the incident has been classified as an arson and homicide investigation.
Currently, it is unclear what sparked the fire or what led to the victim’s death.
