The Dandridge Police Department (DPD) said the investigation began on Feb. 27, as investigators began looking into a theft at the Food City on West Highway 25/70.
Through the investigation, officers and constables collaborated with other law enforcement agencies and learned that the two suspects from Texas were believed to have been responsible for taking baby formula from several stores throughout Kentucky and Tennessee.
DPD said on Thursday that the two suspects had been arrested in connection with the thefts, and more than $28,000 worth of stolen baby formula had been recovered.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the collective efforts of our officers and local constables and everyone in this investigation. Our officers and local constables went above and beyond in their commitment to serving and protecting our community,” Dandridge Police Chief Phillip Batts wrote.
