In the proposed ordinance, it was stated Baxter County has over 700 miles of county-maintained public roads. According to the ordinance, it is unlawful to encroach a road’s right-of-way, litter on a road or place poles, fences or other similar item’s within the road’s easement without written consent of Baxter County Judge Kevin Litty. Violations can result in a $1,000 fine for the first offense and double the sum for repeat offenses. With no justices absent, the ordinance was passed unanimously, and the emergency clause puts it in effect immediately.

The court also unanimously approved the establishment of a 911 advisory board. Judge Litty says the ordinance was presented due to cities in the county contributing funds to 911. The judge will serve as an ex-officio member, and the board will consist of seven members representing most of the cities. The term for each board member will be three years.

Two other ordinances received unanimous approval. Over $9,000 were transferred from the Baxter County Airport Fund to the Airport Grants Fund, and $4,300 were appropriated into the Airport Grants Fund Budget. In addition, more than $6,000 in fees and reimbursements from January were appropriated to the sheriff’s office budget.

The last item approved by the quorum court was a resolution reappointing Bill Lucas to the Baxter County Planning Board. Lucas will serve another four-year term set to expire in March of 2029.
