According to the New Orleans Police Department, notification of the shooting, which is believed to have happened in the 5700 block of Crowder Boulevard, came in at 5:53 p.m. The incident was confirmed as a homicide at 6:10 p.m.
The victim was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound, dead, on Interstate 10 East, just past the Crowder Boulevard exit.
Police say the shooting may have happened in connection with a reported fight.
The victim’s identity and official cause of death will be released by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office after an autopsy and the notification of family.
As of 6:50 p.m., the I-10 East on-ramp at Crowder Boulevard was closed for scene investigation. No further information was provided.
