Southern University men’s basketball wins share of SWAC title

BATON ROUGE, La. (LouisianaFirstNews) – The Southern University men’s basketball team wins a share of the SWAC regular season championship after a victory Monday night against Florida A&M University.

The Jaguars defeated the Rattlers 73-70 in Tallahassee.

Jordan Johnson led the Jaguars in scoring with 17 points. In Monday’s game, FAMU outrebounded Southern 35-30.

Southern is now 19-10 overall, and 14-2 in SWAC conference play.

Southern has two games remaining on the schedule: home games against Alabama State and Alabama A&M. Both games are at the Mini-Dome.

The SWAC basketball tournament begins next week in Atlanta at the Gateway Center Arena.
