Wiltz, a junior from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, was the story of the RRAC Quarterfinals win over #3 seed Our Lady of the Lake, pouring in season-highs of 19 points, eight free throws (8-of-9, 88.9%), four field goals (4-for-10, 40%), three long balls (3-of-8, 37.5%), and just his second multi-assist contest (2). What makes this such a shocking development was the fact that coming into the tournament, the Southern-Shreveport transfer was averaging merely 4.5 points over 9.4 minutes per game with a previous-high of 12 points, personifying the “Next Man Up” mantra.

Broussard, a junior middle infielder from Maurice, Louisiana, had by far the best week of her Wildcats career, setting career-highs of four hits, three runs scored and three RBIs in a 12-3 win at Texas College then stealing a career-best three bases in the win at Dillard, before finally legging out her first career triple in the win at Xavier. She led the Cats in nearly every offensive category including batting average (.450), on-base percentage (.560), total bases (14), hits (9), steals (8-of-8), runs scored (8), extra-base hits (4), doubles (3), hit-by-pitches (3) and sacrifice bunts (2) as well as hitting the team’s only triple. In the six games her slash line was .450 / .560 / .700, going 9-for-20 with four ribbies to lead LCU to a 4-2 overall record, 3-1 in the Red River.

Men’s basketball’s season has come to an end with the Wildcats finishing at 16-13 (55.2%) and 14-10 (58.3%) in the Red River Athletic Conference, earning their fourth trip to the conference semifinals in five seasons and first winning season since 2021-22.

Softball has just one doubleheader this week, but it’s a monumental one, heading over to #21 LSU Alexandria for a showdown with the Generals at 5/7 p.m. at the Generals Softball Field.
