The beaver exhibit will start on March 7 and will be open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through March 30. Tours will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It will feature fun family activities and crafts, such as using provided props to dress as a beaver, making a beaver mask, and listening to a beaver story, which will be read on the hour.
The education center can be found at the Hardware Wildlife Management Area in Blacksmith Fork Canyon, 15 miles east of Hyrum on state Route 101.
Not only can you learn about beavers while touring the education center, but outside the building, west of the center, you can find Curtis Creek and see how multiple dams have left their mark.
“The dams have altered the way the creek flows through the area and have created great riparian habitat that benefits all kinds of wildlife. Our staff can point all of this out to you from our elevated spot above the creek to help you see real-world examples of the benefits of beavers,” Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Hardware Wildlife Education Center Director Marni Lee said.
Additionally, visitors may see wild turkeys flocking to the meadows just below the center this time of year. You can also go fishing in the Blacksmith Fork River, which flows down the canyon.
