Kentucky troopers indicted for alleged civil rights violations

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Two Kentucky police officers and one former officer were indicted Tuesday for alleged civil rights violations while acting as troopers.

The Department of Justice said former Kentucky State Police Trooper Thomas Czartorski, 34, and current KSP troopers, 29-year-old Jarrod Lewis and 30-year-old James Cameron Wright, were all charged with using unreasonable force. Wright was also charged with perjury related to false declarations made under oath.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Czartorski, Lewis, and Wright are scheduled for court appearances on April 3.

If convicted, Czartorski faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Lewis faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, and Wright faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
