OPELOUSAS, La. (
KLFY) — Due to essential upgrades to the sewer system, the City of Opelousas has issued a boil water advisory for residents of Wilson Drive, Charles Avenue, and John Walton Street in the Park Vista neighborhood, effective immediately.
The water service, which was temporarily suspended due to the ongoing Sewer System Upgrade Project, will be restored today. Residents are advised to boil water prior to using it for drinking, cooking, or making ice until further notice.
The sewer system upgrade is part of a city-wide initiative to improve infrastructure, which
will require ongoing work in various parts of the city over the next few months. The project is
crucial
for enhancing the efficiency and reliability of sewer services but may cause temporary inconveniences.
Residents are recommended to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
Additional information regarding service disruptions and repairs will be provided as the project progresses.
