A Boone County man has been arrested following a domestic disturbance while on felony probation for previous physical disturbances. Twenty-one-year-old Christopher Xavier Waits is facing a felony charge of domestic battery for the incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a call from a victim stating she was involved in a physical disturbance with Waits and feared he was going to kill her. She said Waits had hit her in the face, causing her to bleed, but she had escaped the residence and was running away.
The victim called back, reporting that Waits was chasing her. She told deputies she had reached a trailer with a semi-truck parked in front. Dispatch then advised deputies that it sounded as if Waits and the victim were physically fighting. Deputies located the victim and saw she was bleeding from her mouth and had blood on her right leg. Waits was secured in a patrol vehicle while the victim was evaluated by EMS.
After the incident, deputies interviewed both individuals. Waits said only that the victim had woken him from a deep sleep and suggested she may have run into a wall or a post in his bedroom. The victim told deputies she and Waits had been arguing about him talking to another woman. She said Waits became angry and struck her in the face several times with an open hand, causing injuries.
The victim also stated she had previously appeared in court with Waits for a domestic violence case. She admitted that in a November hearing, she had lied to the judge and testified that Waits had not hit her or held a gun to the back of her head.
At the time of the incident, Waits was on felony probation for aggravated assault and domestic battery involving the same victim.
Waits was arrested and booked in to the Boone County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash-only bond. He is facing a felony charge of third-degree domestic battery and was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
