Officials arrived at 4402 North Main Street at 4:06 p.m. and found smoke coming from the first and second floors of the unsecured building.
Due to the size and instability of the building, firefighters called in additional engines, officials said.
A fire was located in a non-functioning elevator car that was stuck between the first and second floors and was ultimately brought under control within 15 minutes.
No one was injured.
