ST. MARY PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A local law enforcement officer has been arrested for alleged pornography charges involving juveniles and the sexual abuse of animals, as well as possessing drugs.

Officials said Feb. 14, they obtained a warrant to search the phone of Javon Charles, 31, of Bayou Vista, and subsequently found pornographic images of children on the device. Additionally, they said, they found videos depicting pornography with animals on the phone.

On Feb. 28, officials said, they searched Charles’ home and drug paraphernalia was found in the residence.

Charles was arrested, after officials searched his residence, for possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant for the charges of pornography involving juveniles and sexual abuse of an animal. He was sent to a St. Mary Parish jail. Bail has not been set at this time.

Between the initial complaint on Feb. 14, and the arrest on Feb. 28, Charles was separated from the Patterson Police Department and was employed by the Jeanerette Police Department.
