EXETER, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Exeter’s Chief of Police John Hall has officially resigned from his position, the City of Exeter announced Saturday.

“The City of Exeter’s former Chief of Police, John Hall, has effectively resigned from his position after opting to not execute a short extension of his contract approved by the City Administrator and City Council,” the city said in a statement.

Hall was sworn in as chief in January 2018 and would continue to serve the community for the next seven years.

Officials say as of Friday, Feb. 28, Assistant Sheriff Rob Schimpf, in coordination with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, began serving as Interim Chief of Police. The search for a new chief has begun.
