3 University of Chicago students targeted in early-morning armed robbery in Hyde Park

CHICAGO — A group of armed robbers held up three University of Chicago students early Saturday morning, school officials confirmed.

According to a post by UChicagoSafe, the incident unfolded around 5:15 a.m. near the 5800 block of South Dorchester Avenue in Hyde Park on the city’s South Side.

Officials said the three students were robbed at gunpoint by a group of either four or five people who emerged from a white Alfsa Romero SUV that had no license plates.

Following the robbery, the individuals responsible fled the scene, heading southbound.

No injuries were reported, and an investigation is now underway.
