Kentucky schools may soon get extra time to make up lost days

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — Help is a step closer for Kentucky schools that have missed more than two weeks this school year.

The Senate Education Committee approved House Bill 241 Thursday that would let schools add extra time to the school day instead of extending the school year into June.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

More than a third of the state’s school systems have used all ten of their NTI days.

The full senate still has to approve the plan.

Pikeville Independent Schools went back to class Thursday after missing a week and a half due to this month’s flooding.
