TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (KLFY) — In Terrebonne Parish, a Kaplan man has been found guilty in a 2021 murder-for-hire leading to the deaths of his sister and her neighbor. This comes after he was found not guilty of third-degree rape in 2024.

Beaux Cormier has been found guilty of multiple counts of murder and attempted murder after he hired two men, Dalvin Wilson of Rayne, and Andrew Eskine of Carencro, to kill his niece to stop her from testifying against him during a third-degree rape trial. But instead of killing his niece, Wilson killed Cormier’s sister Brittany Cormier, and her neighbor Hope Nettleton.

In 2019 Cormier was accused of raping his niece, resulting in Cormier facing a third-degree rape charge. The victim was set to testify against Cormier during a trial. However, in an attempt to prevent the testimony, Cormier hired Wilson and Eskine to murder her.

Wilson shot and killed Brittany Cormier, the victim’s mother, when she tried to save her daughter. Hope Nettleton was shot and killed as she attempted to fight off Wilson.

Although Cormier was found not guilty in 2024 for third-degree rape, a Terrebonne Parish jury found Cormier guilty of one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.

Terrebonne Parish Assistant Distinct Attorney Dennis Elfret said Cormier’s conviction will now allow the victim’s family a chance for closure.

“We can never have the loved ones returned to their families, but I believe that it gives the families some respite and some finality with this. It’s been four years since this took place, but I believe it was a good result for the family, and I hope it gives them some closure in regard to the cases themselves.”

Cormier is facing two life sentences for the murders of Brittany Cormier and Hope Nettleton, in addition to 50 years for the attempted murder of his niece.

A post-trial hearing is set for May 21 and Cormier’s sentencing is set for a later date.
