Homicide investigation underway after man found shot to death in west side alley

INDIANAPOLIS – A homicide investigation is underway after police found a man shot to death in a west side alley early Thursday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched at 3:11 a.m. to the 1100 block of Somerset Avenue for an unresponsive person.

There, police found a man in an alley suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives responded to the area, and Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency arrived to collect any potential forensic evidence.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the exact manner and cause of death.

The case remains under investigation.
